McKinney Academy offers the right balance between academics and creative arts in a positive learning environment in order to develop well-rounded, motivated, independent and responsible individuals.
The mission of McKinney Academy is to provide students in grades K - 5 with a high quality education by developing a strong academic foundation. This is accomplished in a nurturing environment while integrating excellent art and music programs, performing arts and public speaking, Spanish, computer technology and Global studies are also incorporated to prepare students for the 21st century. A focus on health and wellness with wellness parent learning sessions, wellness newsletters, and a learning garden that help develop the whole child.
We are of the philosophy from the Paideia (pi day a) Group that "all children can learn". In keeping true to our mission of providing a high quality education, it is deemed important to employ the most effective methods in order to target various learning styles. In many studies, it has been shown that subject matter is most effectively communicated when it is presented in such a way that allows children to learn sequentially and incrementally through practice and repetition. During the elementary school years at McKinney Academy, the procedure of allowing students to master new skills learned through practice and repetition, will enable the children to develop the strong foundation needed to progress in their educational experience.
