McKinney Academy Uniform Policy
2011-2012
Boy’s Three Required items:
• White Short Sleeve Lands' End Polo Shirt with Logo – Interlock or Mesh style
• White Long Sleeve Lands' End Polo Shirt with Logo – Interlock or Mesh style
• Khaki Colored Pant
Girl’s Three Required items:
• White Short Sleeve Feminine or co-ed fit Lands' End Polo Shirt with Logo – Interlock or Mesh style
• White Long Sleeve Feminine or co-ed fit Lands' End Polo Shirt with Logo – Interlock or Mesh style)
• Khaki Colored Pant
The attire for all school presentations is the “required items” as listed above unless otherwise specified.
On the Lands' End website they provide a 'View Dress Code Guidelines PDF" - This provides detailed information of what is approved for the McKinney Academy dress code. Simply download the pdf for all of the details. A few things to know as you start the uniform process, - No cargo, no cordaroy, no peter pan, no plaid.)
Shirts:
Shirt colors are Cobalt Blue, White, or Red. All tops require a logo and are purchased from Lands’ End.
(Polo shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, “hoodies”, mock and regular turtlenecks, sweaters, and vests must be monogrammed with the school logo and purchased from Lands’ End.)
Shirts must be tucked in for boys and girls.
Pants, Shorts, Skirts, and Skorts:
These items are Navy and Khaki (solid) in color and do not have to be purchased from Lands’ End (no logo).
Please no corduroy or “cargo” style: pants, shorts, skirts or skorts. Skirt or short length should be fingertip in length.
Jumpers, Dresses:
Jumpers are solid in Khaki and Navy. They do not require a logo and do not have to be purchased from Lands’ End.
Dresses are White, Navy or Red. They do not require a logo and do not have to be purchased from Lands’ End.
Please have girls wear bike shorts under dresses, jumpers or skirts.
Socks, Leggings and Tights:
Socks, knee socks, leggings and tights are also solid in navy or white. All students must wear socks. If you would like to substitute plain solid colored navy or white leggings in place of tights you may do so. (Please do not substitute leggings only for pants. Leggings need to be worn under a skirt or skort).
Shoes:
Shoes should protect the student’s feet and must have a closed toe and covered heel. Tennis shoes are required on PE day and also may be worn daily. No sandals or Flip-flops, clogs, crocs or soft soled shoes.
Belts:
Belts are required in black or brown for girls and boys if the garment has belt loops.
Physical Education (PE) Uniform - The Academy has added an optional PE uniform - "sweatpants", "twill sport shorts" in Navy or "Mesh Athletic Shorts" in cobalt blue from Lands' End. These items can be worn all day only on PE day, which is once a week. Please order these from Lands' End in Classic Navy (the logo is not required.) The PE uniform is optional. The McKinney Mustang T-shirt can also be worn on PE day. This shirt is purchased at the Academy for $15. Short or long sleeves are available.
Jackets:
Non-school jackets may be worn to and from school but not in class.
“Free Fridays"
Fridays are "free days" when the school uniform is not required. General uniform guidelines such as skirt length, bike shorts under dresses, no tank tops, shoes etc are still in effect.
McKinney Academy Mustang T-shirts:
The Academy has a "McKinney Mustang short sleeved T-shirt" that is for sale for $15 from Mrs. Johnson at the front desk area. This shirt can be worn on P.E. days, free Fridays and is requested to be worn on special event days. You may send in a check to McKinney Academy anytime and the T-shirt will be sent home. The T-shirts will also be available on Open House-Back to School Night.
ART T-shirt - Please send in any type old T-shirt that will stay at the Academy for art class. Long sleeves (not floppy sleeves) are best to protect the uniforms. Thank you.
