On Thursday, May 23rd at 10:30am McKinney Academy and the 5th grade students will celebrate the second graduating 5th grade class at McKinney Academy! Mrs. Noble, Mrs. Melliadis and Mrs. McKinney will speak words of wisdom to the students as they embark on their journey to middle school. Students will be presented with character trait awards and also their graduation certificates.

The McKinney Academy students performed at the Charlotte Knights Stadium on Monday, May 14th! They sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" on the Baseball field at home plate to open the game. See the "Read More" to see photos from the event.

McKinney Academy celebrated its 3rd Annual Spring Fling on the Davidson Green on Saturday, May 12! It was a great day of games and activities for the whole family. The Glee Chorus presented, under the direction of Ms. Sandi Rosen. The McKinney parent band  "McKinney Experience" performed as well.  Click the "Read more" for photos from the days event!

It is hard to believe the 2011-2012 school year is coming to an end! What a year it has been! In keeping with McKinney Academy tradition, we will gather on the last day of school on Friday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. to watch a year-in-review video production complete with special events, student interviews and a few laughs (and always a few tears). The students of McKinney Academy participated in a variety of unique dramatic segments by grade level on Friday. The students did a great job in the group skits, plays, and poems. The students also had individual speaking parts and did a great job! The Presentation was lead by Mrs. Laurie Gillmore, the Academy's Drama Teacher. The students of McKinney Academy in grades 1 - 5 traveled to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. Not only did the classes enjoy the beautiful grounds of the garden but participated in various hands-on activities.The students dissected plants, released ladybugs, potted plants and visited the orchid conservatory.

Friday, March 30th - The students of McKinney Academy celebrated International Day.  As part of our Global Studies initiative, each class shared knowledge learned about their particular country.

McKinney Academy students and staff have now welcomed nine chicks to the Academy!  Please see the "Read more" for more information on the hatching of the eggs!

In celebration of the students' achievement and to deepen their understanding of the classic novel, McKinney Academy fourth and fifth graders became characters from the book and participated in recreating a few of the events in the story from their novel.
